How to incorportate more aspects of Game Development

Here are a few ideas:

  1. If someone would nominate themselves as JGO rep,
for other sites such as blender forums, and graphics ones, to post the latest projects that require resources and such. Hopefully build a good reputation for themselves in other threads, Or talk to the thread admins for sticky’s and such.

  2. Start a JavaGame.org sister site for graphics, maybe: JArtGO :stuck_out_tongue:

but i think my first idea is the most constructive.

dont think the xBox would be a reasonable platform to try get on. Playstation seems more possible.
if boot off a linux CD with a java virtual machine.

I don’t think we need to get more artists here. Just look for them. DeviantArt, and other sites have plenty of people who are willing to work for programmers.

I understand if someone really wants to get there hands on artists they can.

But its hard to fully focus on programing and manage resource gathering. It would be nice if someone enjoyed adminastrative work such as that. In order to get people working together. So yeah, its true we can go without it. But I believe it would move projects along alot better if we had it.

I think that if someone doesn’t have the motivation to go looking for an artist they won’t have the motivation to make a good product. Also, I don’t think an artist would really feel like there’s anything JGO can offer them.

“If we build it they will come…” -Well, I don’t really believe that. Establishing a subforum or sister site isn’t likely to attract artists unless we can offer something other sites can’t. Short of someone writing an an app to simplify making games in java so artists can avoid most coding, I just don’t see it happening.

That said, a subforum for art might still be useful. Many games in the showcase are somewhat rough. Having a subforum with links to sound/graphics resources and tutorials might help improve the average quality of java games. -Even if the subforum is just used by programmers discussing their latest programmer art. And finding art/artists is certainly a lot easier if one knows where to look.
